Thank you for contacting me to share your views about the Wiccan religion. In particular, a number of Minnesotans have expressed concern about the comments made by a Member of Congress related to the practice of Wicca on military bases.

The Department of Defense (DOD) has informed my staff that military policy permits the free practice of religion on military bases - as long as that practice does not involve proselytizing or interfere with military order and discipline. This seems like a reasonable policy to me that is in keeping with the American tradition of religious liberty.
